Bad Drugs

Prescription drugs and medicines are a lifeline to many people with various medical conditions. Indeed, there have been any number of medical breakthroughs in the area of medicine and prescription drugs over the last 15 years or so. These medicines have revolutionized life for many patients with very serious medical conditions, even with known side effects.

Medicines and prescriptions can be harmful if patients don’t have full knowledge of the attendant risks involved. The claims against bad drugs can be based in product liability and also in medical malpractice. With some drugs, pharmaceutical companies fail to disclose all of the harmful side effects of the medicine or don’t provide enough information for associated conditions that could be life threatening. This, in turn, also affects how doctors deal with prescriptions, leading to practice errors such as dosage mistakes or failing to take patients off other medicines while administering the new drugs.

The federal government and FDA have listed any number of drugs that are harmful or dangerous to consumers. This current list can be found at the following link: Click here

One recent class of drugs deals with blood thinners that cause bleeding injuries. Other diabetic drugs were found to cause cancer and heart failure and other very serious conditions such as pancreatic cancer, ketoacidosis, bone fracture, kidney disease and cardiovascular injuries.

If you or someone you know is injured from use of a prescription medication, you should contact your attorney to obtain as much information as you can to see if you have a viable claim.
